I picked this pattern out because I didn’t think I’d have the patience for a sock with a full cuff. (Plus, I like little footies - they’re cute, aren’t they?) Because this was not my first time doing a sock, I was able to follow this pattern quite easily. I did have a little help on the side, but for the most part, it was pretty smooth. The only part I got confused about, was the short row heel. It seemed like the short row work wasn’t very centered, so I moved it over a stitch, and everything worked out fine.
Yarn
I knew that one day, sock yarn would be my downfall. There are so many yummy colorways, and who can resist?! Clearly, I can’t. These were on sale at a LYS I was visiting, and I just couldn’t help myself. Pretty pretty pretty!
Techniques
Ok, I came out of this slightly frustrated at my ladders. I did my best to tighten my stitches around my dpn joins, but they are still slightly visible. I hear that they will go away after a couple blockings/washings. Is this true?
Second, I don’t understand the negative fuss over the Kitchener Stitch. I’ve done it several times before, and this time, was no different. I did it, it was done, no problem.
Maybe I should try Magic Loop next, toe-up. What do you think? =)

Lovely colourway! And anklets are suitable for California weather. Don’t worry about the ladders … after some wash and wear, they don’t matter anymore. Besides, you’ll improve with more sock knitting.

The socks look awesome. Very cute.
About the ladders, I’m not sure if they go away, but they sure are frustrating. I’ve had some success with really tightening the second stitch after moving to the next dpn. Pulling on the second stitch seems to tighten up the first one as well and helps diminish the laddering.

Love the socks! That color is awesome. I know how you feel about the ladders - I notice them when I use DPNs too. They do seem to go away after a few wearings though.

i think i love these socks. they are soooo cute!!! i’m going to grab the pattern right now. tee-hee. but the yarn…omg the yarn is BEAUUUUU-TIFUL!
hve you been converted yet? I love short cuffed socks. i don’t like wearing socks….but i like to knit them. :) i think i like short cuffed ones b/c my legs are so stumpy, these types of socks make them look slightly normal. hehehee.

The footies look great! I like making short socks too, especially when it’s just a regular stockinette pattern. The short row heel was off by a stitch? hmmmm. I don’t get what the fuss about the kitchener stitch is either. I sometimes get distracted and lose my way but other then that it’s ok.
And yes, go for a toe up sock on the loop!!

Honestly, its these socks that have been my inspiration to start (or consider very very seriously, read my latest post and you will see just how serious) knitting socks. Those are the cutest footies I’ve ever seen and the colour is just fabulous!
I need a pattern and some yarn….siigh…like thats gonna happen….but kudos to ya for the inspiring footies!!
