That stinks about the yarn softening like that. That's kinda what Cascade 220 does, which is great if you need to stretch it or open it, but not great if you liked the way you knit to begin with. I've never not wet blocked something, but I guess that's why you block the swatch ;) I have a nice iron that will steam block things upright, next time I use a yarn like that, maybe I'll try it. They look really great. I love them both.
