I’ve been out-of-town (again) the past couple weeks, and we just got back in town a couple days ago. Hubby still has one more week of vacation left (we’re still deciding how to use it up) but the money is starting to run out. Plus, the homebody in me has collapsed in exhaustion, begging for a vacation from all the vacations. As I am dragging my feet, dear hubby is always mindful of my heart’s desires, so he is constantly asking whether or not there is yarn store nearby. Bless his heart – and because of him I located some yummy Koigu in North Carolina:
In all seriousness though, we ddi have alot of fun. A week in our country’s capitol, and another week in North Carolina for my BIL’s wedding. All in all, it was a great trip. And not only did I return with a new sister-in-law, but a fresh new pair of socks! (All this travelling will give me a whole drawerful of socks).
P.S. I’m using a new lightbox plugin for my pictures. Click on an image and enjoy!

Pattern Notes
Pattern
This was a quick knit. I picked this pattern because I wanted to learn a different way to do short-rows. The toes are done in short-rows as well, and you kitchener your stitches closed at the bottom of your toes. I like the look of it. The short-rows, however, don’t look as filled in as I would like. I think I’ll probably stick with the original wrap/turn short-row method, but this was fun to learn.
Yarn
This yarn was on sale at a LYS, and was handdyed by a local knitter. And of course, I’m all for supporting not just my LYS, but local knitters as well. The colorway was fun and very spring-like. While I was knitting it up, it reminded me alot of watermelons.

Hi Ruth, your S.C. yarn color is yummy and the watermelon socks are so cheerful! I thought I’d let you know I posted a picture of my spinning results tonight. Since the ‘roving’ is already a pretty chocolate brown..it won’t be suitable to dye. I did order some that is dyed blue and will post pictures when it arrives. I think the wool has to be cream to dye it…but at the rate of interest I have in the whole process =), I might try dying wool sometime in the future. Right now I can hardly wait to knit or crochet with this new yarn I’m spinning. Hope you are having a good week…you’re adding a lot of fun to mine…smile.
