Fun Weekend + Beach = FO!

Had a fabulous weekend, where I was able to do some knitting. I brought my needles to La Jolla, sat on a bench, and had the most spectacular view while knitting.

Literally, I am sitting on a bench, with my needles, taking this picture right in front of me. Isn’t it gorgeous?! I miss living near an ocean…

Because I had time to leisurely craft, I was able to finish something up!! (Yes, I’m knocking down my WIPs little by little). =D

    One Skein Scarf

Pattern: SnB Crochet: The Happy Hooker “One-Skein Scarf”, by Denise Corzzitorto
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk #25004, 2.5 skeins
    Needle: Size k/10.5 hook

    Pattern Notes:

I’ve done this pattern already before, here. But I couldn’t resist doing it again since it was so easy and quick, and oh-so-cute! And who can resist Alpaca Silk?! Even though the gauge was similar, I found out quickly that Alpaca Silk is slightly bulkier than Cashmerino Aran, so I crocheted less stitches for the same length of scarf. It’s also just a tad wider because of it. But it still works really well for a “skinny” scarf. Plus, the alpaca will make things nice and toasty, here in California.

And one last random thing - I’m rushing to help out with a friend’s baby shower this weekend in the bay area. I’m making some of the food from scratch, so if time allows, I might catch a photo here and there on that. But in the meantime, here are the favors, being assembled:

    Fun fun! =D

I love that scarf! We’re camping at the beach this weekend - I can’t wait.

Too bad I was working. I would have told you to call me up and we could have knit att the beach together.
    :(

Love the scarf! I’m going to have to try that one out!

    Those baby favors are adorable.

What a cute idea for favors.

Your scarf is very cute. The color looks great on you as well.

that photo of the scarf looks like a knitting pattern ad :)

    CUTE scarf!!!

Ok, so here\’s the scarf picture explanation. DH is tired of being my photographer (I can be picky on how I like my pictures), so this is actually a self-portrait (if you look closely, you can see my arm on the right side of the picture). I had to take like, 9 or 10 shots of myself before I got the one I liked the best. AND we were at a Panera Bread (yes, a public place), and I was trying to be as discrete as possible, but the people around me were starting to think I was really strange. So there you go. =)

That scarf is LOVELY!! and i totally understand how you have to self photograph! i have to do that too b/c i’m so picky. hahah.

the shower favors came out great!! so so so cute.

I forgot to tel you earlier that I took a crochet lesson today. it’s not as horrid as I thought it would be! i’m kind of “hooked”. har har…lame joke. :)

I think I must still be scared of crochet. that scarf is way cute, though… and I actually have the pattern! maybe I’ll get around to trying it out someday. I will use the fact that you have done too and said it was fast and easy as encouragement.

anyway, super cute favors and I am so not laughing at your html-iness! that picture is so cute! did they come with those little animal hats? haha! how many times did I say cute in this comment?? why am I awake? good night!

Sigh..I miss home. The beach pic made me so nostalgic.

But lovin’ the scarf, awesome shade of blue really. It looks great on you. The favors are super-cute too, really innovative! So what food are you making eh?

Beautiful pics! I wish I was there! I love the ocean too =)
The scarf is really cute, makes me almost want to crochet. *almost*

Love those baby favors. Very cute!

Your scarf is so pretty & feminine and the ocean view is fabulous. The shower favors are pretty as can be. Looks like you’ve been having fun!

I love that gorgeous picture of the beach! And that scarf is really lovely. I like the way it was pictured. Great pics.

Hi Ruth, thanks for welcoming me back. I love, love the scarf!

What lovely pictures! I love weddings(though strangely I never seem to get invited to one…I swear I’m the only married person I know, other than those people who were hitched before I met them)!!

Ahhh So. Cal. I’ve always wanted to go there. Maybe someday. It was way cool to have the bride and groom put you up for the ceremonies.. Good friends are so hard to find.

Yarn-crafting: The Alpaca Silk scarf is pretty!! Scarves seem so long to knit, I might have to get back into crocheting them.

Beautiful pictures! It sounds like a perfect weekend. I love your scarf. What a great color.
