This is a great, quick bag. I realize (only now that I'm posting) how late I am in the responses. I, too, have never done a lining before, but I think what I'm going to do is cut a few pieces of easy washing/drying cloth, sew up the hems, and then attach snaps inside the bag and to the different linings. That way, I can change the linings based on occasion, wear, etc. Just a thought.

Again, I realize this is ancient, but in case it helps future readers...to complete this pattern, alternate the two rows. Every ten rows, stick with that row's pattern, but do a cable stitch when you get to the P8 or K8. So, let's say that row 2 is your tenth row, when you get to P8, place 4 stitches on a stitch holder, let them drop forward or backward (either way is ok...just make sure you are consistent...always drop forward or always drop backward), P the last 4, put the held stitches back on the left needle, P as normal, and continue with pattern.

Hope this helps. Thanks, again, Ruth. My bag's still WIP, but you can check it out in Ravelry (misharenu99).

Hi I was hoping you could help me, i have knitted your bag (cabled clutch) and it looks great but I am stuck on how to go about putting the lining in the bag. I have never made a bag before so i apologize for my lack of knowledge so any instruction you could give me on this part would be very much appreciated.

Oh, also did you put anything behind the magnetic clasp to hide the back of it from showing through the front of the bag?

thank you very much for your time and help!

Hi,

I'm a beginner. What exactly do you mean when you say "EXCEPT do a cable crossing (cross 4 sts; I’ve put in bold where to cross) every 10 rows?"

Thanks.

hi anonymous,
i didn't use live stitches to attach the dowel onto the purse. in my post, i mention that i sewed the dowel onto my purse (after i had already cast-off)... by weaving the yarn in each stitch and over the dowel, over and over again. hope that helps!
p.s. and in the future, if you would like to ask questions, be sure to add your email/blog so i can reply to you directly! =)

The clutch is beautiful! What kind of cast on did you do so that you could get the dowel through the cast on row? Also, did you not bind off and just transfer the "live" stitches to the dowel? Thanks!!!
