First of all, I have to say, what is up with the insane PS3 sales?! People camping out/lining up as early as Tuesday morning, people fighting in line, people breaking in stores and stealing them. For $600, I can buy myself a nice sewing machine. Or save up for a couch. Or buy lots of yarn. Hel-lo! Black Friday isn’t even here yet!!!
Not that I’m much of a Christmas shopper. I’m actually terrible with gift-giving. Good thing hubby is too; we don’t require gift exchanges between each other. I’m so relieved with that, it’s shocking. I can also do without the rush of Christmas shopping, all those cards/newsletters to write, decorations to put up, parties to cook/host, etc. etc. Don’t get me wrong - this is also among my most favorite time of year (for other reasons), but as an adult, I can certainly do without the obligatory stress that comes with the holidays. So yea, I don’t even want to THINK about Christmas until the big turkey day is over with.
So when I saw this pattern, I thought, isn’t it a bit early? After all, thanksgiving isn’t here just yet. But seeing how adorable and cute it is, I couldn’t help myself.

Those are so cute! We have an unwritten law in our family…. no Christmas talk/music, etc, until the day after Thanksgiving.
Of course, after that we go wild. We do love Christmas.

Those little mittens are cute. Hmm the PS3 sale… I ALOMOST went for my hubby. He has PS2. BUT he opted for a new suit and winter coat for Christmas instead.
I have to say, I am working on gathering the Christmas decorations today… getting them ready to go up next Friday….

Those mittens are really cute. I’ve bookmarked the pattern and I’m going to make some - for ornaments and/or to attach to gifts. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Awww they ARE adorable.. But they’re themed which isn’t too good for the REST of the winter.. but it inspires. One can always cut out ANY shape of felt and sew it onto the mittens, so.. that might work better than just Christmas mittens.. Yeah! :)
I know what you mean about the PS3 situation.. ridiculous, Why not wait until there are more available and buy it online? sheesh. I’m also one of those people who doesn’t bother going to see a movie right away.. give it a week or so, or I won’t even get in the door!!

These are so cute and you have to start the knitting early! I completely agree about the excess of gift stuff at Christmas. We both grew up with huge Christmases, but try for something more focused on our faith with our own kids. We keep a nativity out all year. When the kids were little, I would hear them playing “Christmas” with the angels singing Christmas carols and the shepherds talking to the baby Jesus. Even now, they will go and rearrange the small figurines periodically. That’s my favorite part of Christmas.

Awwww, look at the wee mittens. I like the little felt applique a lot. I might have to make some real size mittens and put some appliques on to wear them around =)

you are like me….me and bf don’t exchange gifts. heck..i don’t even give gifts to adults unless we have determined that we are goign to do such a thing. i hate the materialism of christmas right now….it’s just so crazy and so unnecessary! :)
me likes the mittens. :)

Oh those mittens are so adorable and Christmasy! I agree with you about the gifts and hype…most of which leave our dear Lord out. Our church services are so special and they are worship, sweet and simple. If only the rest of the Christmastime could be as restful and focused! I’m glad you liked my new curtains and tablecloth. They were really easy to sew, the measuring was the only scary part. I love the results and would do it again in a heartbeat. Working with the interior decorating friend…well, I’m still singing her praises! Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours!
