August Projects

I feel guilty for doing this, but I already ordered all the yarn for these projects! The guilty part of me has to due with the Peppermint Twist sweater - Rowan is expensive, and I totally splurged (I was going to substitute with more affordable yarns but the colors were too tempting!!).

    SnB’s Peppermint Twist Sweater:

Lacy Kerchief Scarf (from IK’s Summer 2005)

The only thing is, the Peppermint Twist is knitted up in flat pieces, and then sewn together. I wonder if I can put this on circs instead…?

Both are great projects. They will look great on you.

I love the scarf… so pretty! And the sweater is really pretty too… love the stripes! I would probably not knit it in the round, because I think that seams in a sweater give it more structure. But, other than that, I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do it circular instead of flat.

hmm, thanks for the food for thought about the sweater seaming.. hadn’t thought about that!

Life is too short to feel guilty about yarn - enjoy your purchases! Knitting stripes in the round shouldn’t be difficult, just watch out for the “jog” when you change colors. Jacqueline Fee’s Sweater Workshop has some examples, a great book.

I tried adding your blog to my bloglines subscription but it has a problem with the feed. :-(

Thursdays seem to be a popular night for many activities, including SnB. I’ll try to make it soon, will let you know.

I LIKE that lacy edging on the scarf! And you’re right about the sweater, gotta have those colors!

Hi Ruth, thanks for the visit to my blog. I have been so busy with home improvement projects for the last two weeks, I haven’t made much progress on my purse. Next week things will get back to normal. Hey, I had planned to make the Lacy Kerchief Scarf as well!

The scarf is also on my list of ‘must-make’s. Would love to know how you go with that.

Hey I just started reading your blog. Go check me out.
