I feel like I haven’t blogged in awhile! I usually try to get at least one post in a week, but this month is getting so crazy. We have out-of-town weddings every single weekend this month, and then we’re off to Singapore/Malaysia for a week, and then Maui for another week. By mid-October, I’ll just be glad to be home and veg out for awhile (even though I love to travel, I’m a true homebody at heart). =) Anyways, here are some weekend pictures from our labor day weekend.
On the knitting front:
With the onset of so many of my friends having babies, I figured this would be a great time to knit up some of my gifts to them! I certainly cannot knit fast enough to make it to some of the baby showers, but hopefully I’ll finish them before the babies enter into the world. =) So here is one project I’ve started on. It’s a Debbie Bliss pattern (I’m using Debbie Bliss Wool/Cotton in a mustard yellow-ish color), and I’ve already knitted up the backside below:
And I’ve started on the front panel (afterwards, I’ll seam them together and put a simple edging on the neck and armholes):

Maui! You’ll love that island … where are you going to stay? Last time we were there, we didn’t stay at the Hyatt … but were determined that if we ever go again, that’s the place for us. We had dinner at the restaurant there and it was really good. Even their fast food type food hall serves very delicious food.
And I surely would try to wear River often. Thanks for the comment.

Awww - such a cute dress! I know what you mean about the onslaught of babies… I think I’ll be knitting sweaters for babies from now on - it is a lot less work than a blanket!
Have fun on all of your travels. You should have a lot of knitting time on your flights overseas and to Hawaii!

Oh! Lucky you! Maui!! Enjoy yourself! And that baby dress is too cute! If you think you’ll have a bit of time to spare in Malaysia, holler and we’ll see if we can do a cuppa..:)

I wish I could hitch a ride in your knitting bag while you go on your trips.
The dress is adorable.

Yes, Ruth, the only thing we can do is pray for all who have been displaced by this terrible storm. It’s getting hard for me to watch the news coverage, as well…..

Thanks, the sheep blanket is one of those projects that you don’t want to let go! Maui and Singapore! Nice destinations….I’ve never been to either. Enjoy!

Hi Ruth, thanks for coming over and leaving a comment. I came over to say, wow, if I could knit like you, I would’nt give crochet a second thought! (even though it makes lovely things too) I still think knitting is way up there at the top! = )

Ruth, you are a traveling fool! I’ve never been to Maui, but I know what you mean about loving to travel but wanting to stay home as well. I can never get back to Sac fast enough.
Cute baby dress. I have a sweater I started for a friend’s 6-month old about 1.5 years ago. Perhaps some friend who doesn’t yet have a baby will get it instead…
