I’ve seen this meme buzz around all week. So here’s me:
…
1. I hate housework. But I’m a housewife.
2. I love to travel, and explore new cultures, people, lifestyles, food. When I go to a new place, I don’t mind doing touristy things (I love history too), but I prefer seeing what it’s like to live like a local… I like seeing the world through other people’s perspectives and trying to understand people who are different from me. It helps remind me that the world does not revolve around me and my own experiences (a very important quality to have, in my book).
3. Even though I love to travel, I absolutely HATE plane rides. I’m always super freaked out, especially during take off, landing, and turbulence. Yes, I’m wimpy. And at least once or twice a year, we take a trip where it involves crossing an ocean (Atlantic or Pacific, take your pick), so I deal with this fear quite often. =)
4. My husband was my one and only boyfriend. We were each other’s first of nearly everything. I wouldn’t have it any other way. =)
5. Some people say I resemble the actress Neve Campbell. I still can’t figure out why, I think we look nothing alike.
6. This June 1st, I’ll have been married 5 years. We’re taking the weekend off to Napa, possibly a B&B, a spa, and of course, wine tasting.
7. This August, Hubby and I will be going to Kenya for a couple weeks. We will be in Nakuru (a couple hours north of Nairobi), helping out with a free medical camp for those in need, and doing local outreaches in the neighborhood. I’m feeling nervous, excited, and unprepared all at once. We are currently raising support (financial and prayer) for this trip. (And yes, the plane ride there is going to be LONG - see #3 above). =P

If you like this meme, consider yourself tagged! And of course, let me know if you’re doing it, so I can come over to your blog and take a peek at it too. =)

When I was younger, I used to LOVE takeoffs…but now it totally freaks me out too. I have to keep my eyes closed in order to stay calm. Even a little turbulence scares me now. I recently flew to Anaheim and back, and that short little flight was still too long for me!

Umm…flight to Kenya is not only long, but requires a couple of layovers as I recall.

that is exciting that you’re going to be going to Kenya to help out in a free medical camp! I’m not a fan of taking off or landing either–makes my tummy feel weird! Happy Early Anniversary. :)

I forgot to say…I hope you have an absolutely fabulous trip. It sounds like it will change the lives of others in a wonderful way. Belated Happy Wedding Anniversary! About flying…I have never! May God give you grace for that part of the trip and abundantly. As Amy Carmichael says in her book…’Thou Givest…They Gather..”we are trusted to trust”…not easy but sweet when it happens…=)
