Modeled by my friend Mary (thanks Mary!) - it was a little too bright, but you can make out the scarf and all the curly ruffles, right? =)
Pattern: “Ruffles,” From Scarf Style
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (#101 - cream/off-white), 3 balls
Needle: US #8 straights
Additional Notes:
Pattern
The pattern was a bit confusing at first (the only time I’ve ever done short rows was a couple weeks ago when I did the heel and gusset of my first sock). Once I figured it out, it was pretty easy and it went really fast. I actually knit this up in a week, but have been postponing posting it because it’s for a friend. In anycase, the only thing I was wondering about was how to discretely hide the short rows. If you look closely, you can see them. Any tips on making them look more subtle?
Yarn
All I can say is, wow!!! It was so incredibly soft and wonderful to knit with!! I have heard that it pills quite a bit with repeated washing, so it’s (sadly) probably not good for a sweater project or the like. But a fun soft and warm scarf - perfect!

Yay on the FO!! And I’m glad you like Cash Aran. The scarf looks really good. I still haven’t figured out how to make the short rows look neat, but I also discovered that the “messiness” (for lack of a better word) doesn’t really stand out once the scarf is worn. I’m sure that JJ will love it!

Ruffles was my first short row project. I love the 3-D effect of it.
I’ve used Cashmerino Aran for a sweater, and haven’t noticed any pilling.

I love this pattern I have the book and I have been wanting to try it, I think I might try a verigated yarn.
Your’s looks great.

I haven’t jumped on this bandwagon, yet, but your ruffles scarf is very pretty. It looks great with the sweater of the same color. I just bought some Cashmeriono Aran for another project and it is sooooooft!

The scarf is wonderful. I made one for a friend too, and it does knit up quickly once you figure out the short row thing. Congrats!

ohh… I love cash aran. I made a poncho with it. The most expensive poncho on the planet. But it was fun. I did frog it a bit to make a OSW but still haven’t decided what to make with the rest of it. Maybe a Ruffles scarf!
