This will be my third attempt at crocheting (my first attempt was confusing to say the least, my second attempt was a bit more successful). I’ve been stumped by crocheting in the round, and wanted to at least learn how to do a granny square (there are so many cute patterns out there involving the granny square!). It was confusing at first, because I thought I had to dc into the actual chain stitches, but then it dawned on me that all I had to do was dc into the ring itself. The rest was ecstatic history. Here are the results!
My tension was a tad loose on the first one (can you guess which square was my very first one?). =P

You’ve done it! Well done. Now tell me it was easy… because I don’t believe you.

Bottom right?
Congrats on conquering a new fiber technique. Crochet is on my list of things to learn this year.

Great job! I crochet too, though it has been ages since I’ve done the granny square. I’ve made afghans with them, including my first attempt at a baby afghan…that was, gosh, probably the late 1980’s. It turned out nice only I didn’t tie it together right and some of them came apart when my friend washed it. However, I now know how to make the right kind of knot that won’t come undone. The pattern I had was from a magazine, and I know I have it around here somewhere…probably packed away in a box or something. I don’t throw out my crafty magazines like that as you never know when you’ll want the pattern again. I should really look into finding it so I can make some more of those afghans as it was really pretty.

Looks good. Crocheting is pretty hard.

Yeah for you, Ruth! Crochet is a different animal but once tamed is really quite easy. There are so many more stitches to crochet than knitting, but one just builds on the other and voila’ you have crochet. Fun colors too.

Great job!! They look fabulous! My crochet teacher made a giant granny square afghan once. It was huge!

Looks Cute…Good job :-) I love crocheting….It is easier to fix mistakes and you can do really cute things with it that you cant with knitting.

Great job on the crocheted granny squares! I crocheted for 20 years before I learned how to knit and thought I’d NEVER get the hang of knitting. Keep up the good work… it’s good to know how to do both crafts.

Those are so cute! I have tried them before with bad results, I think you inspired me to try again!
