A New WIP

This is my third WIP (the max limit I’ve set for myself)… I’m pretty excited about it. This is my very first full sweater project, and it’s for ME. I’ve done a bunch of baby sweaters/clothes, but now it’s time for a special something for me! I’m using the lovely Karabella Aurora 8, for this project.

On the advice of Caitlyn, I’ve taken the pattern chart and handwrote notes for myself to make things easier.

One of the pattern charts provided:

    My own chart notes:

    The lovely yarn:

The yarn is really soft and elastic, and really nice on my fingers. Because the yarn is so smooth, the stitch definition is wonderful! I’m just worried about the elasticity - when wet, I’ve heard that it can stretch and grow in size! Some have said that it dries back to it’s original shape, others have said it dries slightly larger than original shape. I’m knitting this sweater up in a slightly tighter gauge, hopefully to make up for this…

Pretty yarn and I love the stitch definition. I love it when you get a yarn with just the right twist to give that ropey look to the stockinette stitches rather than the very symmetrical “V”s.

Good luck with the sweater! I’m sure it will be wonderful. As you may recall, I said that I wasn’t that fond of Aurora 8 when I first started working with it for my skinny scarf. I thought that DB Cash Aran was better. My opinion has changed as I’ve gotten further along with my scarf. I agree with you that the Aurora 8 has excellent stitch definition. Plus, it just seems…sturdier than the Cash Aran. Sorry, can’t help with the elasticity issue – I don’t have experience there. Spit splicing works really work with this yarn! I found that it looks best if I let the join dry before I continue knitting.

ooooh this will be so pretty on you!

Oh … exciting! The first sweater will always hold a special place in your heart.
Can’t wait to see yours knitted up!

Can’t wait to see the final sweater! I’m sure it will look beautiful. I love the colour of the yarn, so soft and pretty.

I wonder if you were to handwash and then lay flat to dry, if that would help to not have the sweater stretch? I don’t know though, was just a thought.

How exciting, your first sweater, and you’re designing it yourself? Wow. I’m impressed. The yarn is really pretty. Have you swatched it and run it through a wash test?

Gorgeous yarn. I’ve only heard positive feedback on Aurora 8, I must try it one day.

Great choice on your first me me me project.

I can’t believe it has been so long since I have been to your blog! Sorry! Those truly are not the ugliest socks ever, but if they aren’t your thing no use wasting time and knitting energy! I LOVE Aurora 8 and your first sweater should be for yourself. Way to go!

The sweater is beautiful!! I adore the color and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

What a pretty template this is Ruth!

=) guess what? i’ve started knitting again. knitted a few things my year in china… somehow wanted to pick it up again… been looking at pictures of your stuff and got inspired again. hehe.

Looking good..:) I like the stitch definition too. You will certainly have to model it for us when done yea…:D

Good luck on your sweater project! Thanks for the tips on my shawl project. I have to finish up a pair of socks and make a few things for charity, and then I’ll dive into lace!

Pretty yarn. I hadn’t realized that you have never knit a sweater for yourself. ‘Bout time! You will look great in it.
