This could get VERY addicting. And I think I’m already hooked. Seriously, there are not enough hours in a day to keep up. And I am determined to teach myself these crafts. Being self-taught gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. And tada, here we go! (click for a close-up)
They are still a bit on the crude side, and still very very simple, but that’s ok. As you can tell, I LOVE accessories. If you didn’t know already, I have a love for handbags, and now, earrings. Dangly, sparkly ones. You’ll be seeing more of these. =)
Because my schedule is SO packed (I’m booked from now til May), I don’t have time to expand much on my new growing hobbies. I would like to crochet a bit more, and start sewing as well. But I think I’ll have to postpone sewing and crocheting til the summer…

The earrings are beautiful! Not crude at all, simple and elegant!

I don’t wear any jewelry except my engagement and wedding rings … and my husband insists that they are not jewelry! I don’t even wear a watch! That saves me lots of time from other crafts for knitting. ;)

I love those!! great job! I wanted to comment about them a few days ago but blogger didn’t like me for some reason and wouldn’t let me leave a comment - maybe it thought I needed a few days to let the beauty of those earrings really sink in! :)

Beautiful! I have not gotten into the whole beading thing, but I think it is just a matter of time!

Oh yes, you are the handbag queen in my opinion. Now you can be the beading? earring? jewelry? queen too.

I love the earrings Ruth. You should post a tutorial on how you do them when you get time in the summer!

Beautiful work, as usual, Ruth. I’d love to learn to do this, but I’m also hard pressed to find the time.

Lovely!
Sometimes simple is the best way to go. Once I took some crystals and made two pairs of earrings, a really simple pair, just long eyepins with the crystals, and then a fancier pair - necklace chain and crystals placed at different lengths. The more complicated ones are certainly nice (I just wore them tonight), but the simpler ones (which are missing right now *pout*), actually turned out to be my all time favorite earrings!
I was looking at the dowel you hung your earrings on and thinking “I should get a nice dowel like that to display my earrings on for markets…” and then it hit me… It’s a knitting needle! Isn’t it? LOL!

Earrings!! I love them! I tried making a few pairs of my own a year ago. I need to dig them out. But I got more interested in beads for making my own stitch and row markers. All I need is a better way to finish the pieces so there’s no jagged edges hanging; they get stuck on my work sometimes.

Oh my, Ruth! Those are so beautiful!!! I totally love them, I would totally wear those. Way to go! Oh yeah, you took great pictures, too.

I have so many craft personalities I rival Sybil. In one of those lives I was a beader/jewelry maker. I think your earrings are lovely - keep up the good work. I am quite impressed with the Mandarin class as well.
