Crochet with Debbie Stoller

First of all, I’d like to say that Blogger is being increasingly irritating. Uploading pictures is getting to be a pain, and I had to dig up my Picasa/Hello program to load them up instead (does anyone know how to load up multiple pictures at a time through this program - rather than uploading each one one by one?) Even publishing is frustrating.

In anycase, I wanted to share with you a couple pictures from the latest “Stitch ‘n Ride” with Debbie Stoller! A couple of us from SnB came along for the ride.

Yours truly, with JJ (who is camera shy):

    Sara & Marin:

Debbie brought alot of crocheted pattern examples from her “Happy Hooker” book.

Sara is proudly modelling “Cupcake” (pattern on p. 165):

Sara modelling “Short ‘n Sweet” (pattern on p. 168)

Debbie also gave a short crochet lesson:

    And signed some books!

    Here is my crochet progress:

I am realizing that once I’m getting the hang of crochet - it’s actually alot easier than knitting, and it goes by much faster! Of course it eats up much more yarn and the textures are different, but I’m enjoying it alot so far.

I hope you manage to get your yarn and I love your crochet bag. Hmm, I have that book too, how come I didn’t notice that bag!

Your crochet squares look great, and it sounds like the Stitch n Ride was a blast!! I will email you directions on uploading multiple photos through Hello…it took me awhile to figure it out too.

Hey - looks like you had a great time on the train! Too bad it was the week after the Knit show train, or I would have gone too. 2 train rides in as many weeks is a bit much though!

For downloading multiple pictures with Picasa, just select the pictures that you want to upload (control-click to select multiple pics), and then click on the “Blog This” button (I think that’s what it is) in the bottom bar in Picasa. I’m SO with you on Blogger frustrations. One of these days I’m moving to WordPress!

Name dropper!!! No, really, HOW FUN!

You’re doing great with the crocheting Ruth! I love those squares!

    Lucky you!!!

I asked a friend who is currently in NYC to bring me the Happy Hooker book, the patterns seem great from what I saw so far, and maybe it’s about time I learned to crochet properly..

The ride looks like fun, was Debbie nice?

You sure looked you had a wonderful time. Where did the ride go? My arm gets tired faster when crocheting than knitting … so still like knitting more.

Awww no fair…I really haven’t done much to learn crochet, despite my best intentions. Did Debbie make the top she’s wearing? It looks like the one in her book…(and you’re right about blogger).

are you by any chance peggy’s friend? and cindy’s friend? I’m the one who was peggy’s wedding coordinator - and cindy’s future sister-in-law! if this is a different ruth, then I guess I don’t know you… :P haha. and if so, I didn’t know you knit too! very exciting!

Woohoo gal, that sounds like great fun! Love your crochet squares!

hm - you must be a different ruth… I will have to wait until wendy gets back to ask her! :) btw, I’m loving the stuff on your site! looks like you are much more productive than the likes of, say, me… and nice crocheting! I’ve been wanting to get past straight single crochet, but I haven’t had the motivation just yet. maybe I need to get the happy hooker book…

Wow! Looks like you had such fun on the ride. Love your crochet squares, can’t wait to see the finished product.

oooh that outing looked like so much fun! i’m JEALOUS!! :) good job on learning crochet. ;) heeheh. you smart cookie.

How cool is it that you got to meet Debbie Stoller. I’m so jealous!
    Amy

Your flower square is pretty, I always used to love the pillows with the big ‘rose’ in the middle of the grannysquare.

Hi Ruth, I have the same problem with trying to upload multiple photos with blogger. It’s one at a time! Lucky you in meeting Debbie Stoller. I have to get her crochet book. Your crocheted squares look great.

The train sounds like it was fun. I thought about going, but nobody I knew was going so I decided to pass. I want to go on a stitch and ride sometime though, they seem like they would be soooo much fun

Wow! Looks like fun and you’re really rolling!

As far as blogger goes, I can’t find any work arounds when it conks out. Let me know if you figure anything out. It makes a me crazeee!

So fun!! The squares you have so far look so great!

It doesn’t seem that long ago that you were just learning, now look at you! How cool is a Stitch n Ride with Debbie Stoller! I am impressed and wish I could have come along. Beautiful crocheting!

Wow Ruth! Your famous, or nearly famous. What a great adventure. Your crochet squares are beautiful.

To upload from Hello several photos at a time: write the photo caption (as you would write the post in blogger environment) and add at the end of every caption || except the very last photo caption. é voilà!
