Knitting Superstitions

I’d like to start off by saying I’m not a superstitious kinda gal. Never was. I have no problem walking under ladders, opening umbrellas indoors, and black cats mean nothing to me. I remember in high school I had a locker mirror (one of those magnet ones that you stick to the inside of the locker door) that I purposely broke in front of a gasping friend, just to show her that it meant nothing to me. NOTHING.

Generally speaking, I’m a God-fearing girl who doesn’t take heed to all that mumbo jumbo. My feet are firmly set on the floor. Which begs the question, this past month, why am I all of a sudden scared of publicly sharing/posting any of my recent knitting projects and activities? Why the silence and hidden projects? (This also applies to my sewing projects, which we’ll save for another post for another day.)

Turns out, I’m very wary of fully publicizing my WIPs in fear that I’ll never finish them in a timely manner. Notice the list of WIPs progress bars on the right side of this blog? Three of those projects are currently stalled or put “on hold”. for some reason, whenever I list a project up there, it takes nearly the whole earth and sky to move together for me to finish something. Why is that?!??

So in the meantime, just for your hungry eyes to feast on, here’s a glimpse of some of my “active” projects currently on my needles:

Mystery Project #1 Mystery Project #2
Mystery Project #3 Mystery Project #4

Can you identify any of them? =)
(Some of you who knit with me locally can probably guess some of them)

i can’t identify any of them, which is probably sad because two of them look familiar, but I must say that they all look really pretty. I can’t wait to see the whole thing ;)

They are gorgeous! I love the cables with the beads.

No clue what the projects are but I like them. :)

    Ooo…the beads are gorgeous.

I don’t know what any of them are, but they are all very pretty!

oooh these are all so purty!! i can’t wait to see FO’s! :)

I can see that there are two lace projects and two cable projects! Hahaha … does that count as identification? Thanks for the birthday wish. :)

Wow! Hey now you really got to finish it all so we can all satisfy our curiousity! :) All of it look great!

Hi, I think I can identify two of them, mystery project #2 and #4. Are they called Cranberry and Heather?

the two lacy ones look familiar… and they all four look beautiful! I’ve got what feels like 1000 wip’s languishing in various corners of my house… you couldn’t possibly be worse off than me. ;)

collynda - whoa, you must have the same knitting book as i do. yep, you got #2 and #4 correct. =)

Oh that beautiful lace…I love it. So delicate. As for being ‘under the gun’ to finish projects that you ‘go public’ with, I can understand that. I have oodles of things not finished but fondly looked at now and again, giggle, when I accidentally come across them!(I’m planning on working on all of them someday?? no worries, they aren’t going away and if I die first somebody else can have the pleasure) Days go by mighty fast and we can only live them one at at time and lots of times there are more important things to do, like just being us enjoying what we can amongst our many duties. Blessings to you…and I must say that you have ‘wowed’ me many a time with your completed projects which are beautiful. Remember that clutch purse you made with the cable stitch and did the tutorial? Well, I wanted to make that so badly and didn’t remember how to make the cable stitch itself. Now, my face is slightly red..but I’ll recover…smiling in spite of it!

I don’t know what the purple project with the cables and beads is, but I want it when you’re done :)

:) yes I do but I am not brave enough to handle those projects, I am relatively new to knitting. Can’t wait to see your finished products though!!

    Lovely photos, though. Very inspiring.

    Hi Ruth!
