Frogged: Goodbye Beautiful Cables

I have trouble finishing projects. I have even more trouble letting go. But mind over matter, it had to be done. I don’t need another handbag, I know I will never actually finish this project, and I could probably reuse this yarn for something else. So here goes (taking a deep breath)…

Here’s what it was, in it’s pre-frogged form:
    Cabled Handbag Project

Pretty, right? Loved the cables. It was supposed to be a cabled handbag. Just to indulge myself, some close-ups of the cables:

And then, here it is, frogged. I had forgotten that I was knitting this handbag with the yarn DOUBLED. I knew it was going to be a sucker to untangle the mess.

Untangling it all WAS a big pain! It took several hours. But it is finally over.
    All neatly wound up

I wonder what this yarn will reincarnate into next? (My favorite part!)

wah!!! what a courageous move! The cables were beautiful, and so are the big fat balls of yarns =D

i have some wip that should be frogged too but still cant do it…. =P

I’m impressed with your frogging patience. If that were my tangled mess on the floor, I may have just thrown it away. But the wound balls look lovely, too good to knit up :-)

Do you think the undoing, frogging, winding, etc. are your version of nesting? I was just reading another blog post who I think is just about as “due” as you and all her nestingness… here’s the link: http://smallnotebook.org/2009/08/20/crazy-nesting/

I was thinking the same as Anne. I did a lot of frogging right before I had Maggie. Now you have fresh balls of yarn to knit the baby something new!

oh no..i felt your pain. i wonder what you’re going to make out of what you frogged too! can’t wait to see. :)

I recognize this cable pattern! It took me two weeks to finish my cable handbag. Do you think you could just whip up a st. st. back panel for a larger size tote bag?
Very courageous indeed. Perhaps I should let my unfinished shrug go as well…I am still in self denial.
Congrats to your newest addition! Adorable. =) Best wishes!
