Chocolate Minty Goodness

Part of my Christmas-gifting, I had to experiment on a couple things before they were ready to be gifted. This one in particular, is pure chocolatey-minty goodness! Gooey chocolate, soft, chewy, and minty!

    Backyard Leaves

This FO is a long time coming - finished it back in August, blocked it in November, seamed it last week, and finally took pictures today (click for a close-up).

    Backyard Leaves

    Me wearing it:

    Me in Backyard Leaves

Pattern: “Backyard Leaves” by Annie Modesitt, from “Scarf Style” by Pam Allen (Interweave Press, 2004)
Yarn: Karabella Aurora 8, #11 (olive), 4 balls
    Needle: US #7 straights

    Pattern Notes

    Pattern
A lacy knit, and not as easy as it may seem. The first row is a WS row, and it is lace knitting all the way through (not every other row, but every single row). This knit is definately not a “watching-TV” type of knit, as every stitch/row has lace shaping. But once I got into the rhythm of it, it went by fast and fluid. And of course, seeing the scarf leaves come out of your needles the way that they do… magical!

    Yarn
If you’ve never knit with this yarn before, you’re missing out. It’s wonderfully soft and luxurious to the touch. Definately easy on the fingers. It’s 100% merino cushy goodness. One warning though - it has quite a bit of elasticity, and when you block it, there will be alot more ease than you think. As others have reported, be careful when you block this scarf, as it can get lengthier than normal (or you can cut back on a couple chart leaves-repeats). Otherwise, no complaints here! Wrap it around your neck several times, it’s cushy, soft, warm, and who can beat the pretty olive color - perfect for fall/winter!
